Job Description:

Process Technician III (6 Month Term)

Scope: To assist in the manufacturing of diagnostic reagents.

Responsibilities: May include some or all of the following:

  • Support Quality Management System.
  • Writing/reviewing documents (MDRs, QIGs, QAPs and QAFs) related to manufacturing/incoming Quality control of raw materials.
  • Assist in the documentation/maintenance of procedures for the use of all process equipment.
  • Assist in the documentation/maintenance of procedures for the maintenance and calibration of equipment/processes.
  • Maintain proper documentation in association with manufacturing processes and Incoming Raw Materials.
  • Operating mixing, filtering and dispensing equipment.
  • Ensure training is completed and documented prior to carrying out all operations.
  • Participate in the 5S program - ensure equipment and facilities are properly maintained.
  • Ensure all manufacturing equipment is validated/verified/calibrated prior to use.
  • Adhere to company safety procedures/regulations.
  • Be cognizant of possible quality improvements along with cost savings.
  • Performing routine maintenance and calibration of balances.
  • In coordination with facilities assist in the maintaining/upkeep of deionized water system.
  • Correlating samples sent out for microbial analysis.
  • Coordinating and maintaining raw material holding areas including raw materials location database.
  • Collecting and weighing raw materials for manufacturing processes.
  • Assembling equipment for manufacturing processes.
  • Operating filtration, sieving and dispensing units.
  • Preparing solutions used in manufacturing process.
  • Cleaning equipment used in production/packaging operation.
  • Operating lyophilizers in relation to maintenance along with the shut-down and removal of product.
  • Performing general maintenance and calibration of formulation drums.
  • Communicating with equipment service technicians.
  • Ordering lab supplies.
  • General lab upkeep as well as proper storage of equipment/supplies.
  • Processing of OEM Reagents/calibrators.
  • Performing receipt of incoming materials/supplies.
  • Performing routine maintenance of equipment.
  • Assist in the training and development of new staff members.
  • Work on projects related to manufacturing including—Kaizens.
  • Maintain labor within the ERP system.
  • Issue raw material usage related to reagent formulations in the ERP system.

Education / Experience:
  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years relevant industry experience.

Skills / Pre-requisites:
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to a multi-task environment.
  • Be self-motivated and have the ability to organize.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in teams.
  • Proficient in use of computer software including accounting/manufacturing software, Word and e-mail.

  • No specific training experience required.
