Position Overview:
In this role, the Consultant, Portfolio Management will contribute in the PMO to ensure the strategic and operational plans for the business transformation are effectively implemented through strong financial planning, controlling, monitoring and reporting. This role will work in strong partnership with multiple functions across RSA Canada and Group and will contribute heavily to the tools maintenance and development for financial tracking and business cases.

What you will achieve in this role
  • Conduct execution health checks to evaluate the successful progression of the projects and the project managers' performance as it relates to RSA EMPO Project Management best practices.
  • Participate in the on-going continuous improvement and monitoring of the RSA EMPO Project Management Lifecycle Process, Standards and Methodologies - including the updating of the Artifacts, Governance and Project Gate Reviews, and related training and communication.
  • Develop strong strategic relationships with the work streams, departments across Canada and Group reporting to ensure timely and accurate completion of all reporting requirements and to promote efficient information flow
  • Support the Director of Standards, Methodologies and Centre of Excellence (COE) with ad hoc information requirements that feed into the executive decision-making process
  • Support the Management of the PM/PCO COE in PM evaluations, assignments, mentor, resource capacity planning.
  • Interface with Governance and Internal Audit groups to ensure compliance with corporate governance protocols.
  • Ensure the integrity, accuracy and timeliness of all Corporate reporting requirements (as relates to Project Portfolio) while ensuring compliance with company's business and regulatory objectives

What you bring to this role
  • Must possess an University degree in Business or equivalent training or experience in project management
  • Professional expertise with at-least 5 years in a business environment preferable for an insurance company
  • Learning and change agile with proven capability to understand new business environments
  • Strong project management skills
  • Advanced MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Sharepoint skills
  • Strong critical thinking including problem solving and issue resolution skills
  • Strong communication skills both written and oral skills.
  • Ability to build effective relationship skills and work across functions, particularly at senior level
  • Knowledge and expertise with Clarity PPM suite is a strong asset
  • Experience in project controls and reporting within the context of a PMO
  • Experience in project management best industry practices
  • Able to challenge and detect potential risk, issues in relation to project execution
