The role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Manager, Physical Security to be based in our Toronto office. This role reports directly to the VP & Chief Security Officer and leads, manages, and oversees the responsibilities of the Physical Security team.

The role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Manager, Physical Security to be based in our Toronto office. This role reports directly to the VP & Chief Security Officer and leads, manages, and oversees the responsibilities of the Physical Security team.
A typical day
- Apply an Enterprise Security Risk Management approach to Shaw’s Physical Security Management Program with the goal of protecting company assets (including people, property, and information) while enabling the business’ strategic objectives
- Experience in corporate/industrial security environments with commensurate knowledge of physical security principles, locking hardware, alarm systems, electronic access control and CCTV systems. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered. ASIS PSP or CPP designation would be an asset (under experience)
- Manage people and lead a team capable of delivering the desired business results
- Act as a trusted advisor to assigned business/group
- Influence and negotiates to achieve business objectives
- Recommend and implement solutions based on analysis of issues and implications for the business
- Ensure effective execution of the physical security and protection programs, policies and practices
- Identify emerging issues and trends to inform decision-making
- Lead consultations with internal and external stakeholders, to develop and implement strategic business plans to reduce risks / exposures related to physical security and protection
- Conduct independent analysis and assessment to resolve strategic issues
- Build effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders
- Ensure alignment between stakeholders
- Provide project management for security and
access control system installations at company locations across the country
Ensure that all security systems are functioning properly across all locations
Provide operational and technical support for contractors and employees
Setup and implement change requests for security systems, such as migration, upgrades and system expansions
Deliver comprehensive physical security projects at existing sites
Provide weekly progress report on all projects

- Project management experience
- 5-10 years people management experience
- Responsible attitude and willingness to take ownership and initiative
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Sound judgment and decision-making skills
- Able to remain calm under pressure and take control of incidents in a positive and discreet manner
- Champion of change with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment

- Act with professionalism and integrity always
- Familiarity with the telecommunications industry and supporting systems would be an asset
