Job Description:

One of a network of over 75 provincial community health centres, the NorWest Community Health Centres is a community based, non-profit organization funded by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and the North West Local Health Integration Network, emphasizing access to primary health care and prevention programs and services.

We are currently seeking a .80 FTE Administrative Assistant who is responsible for providing administrative functions that will support the Integrated Palliative Care Clinical Program and other specialty clinical programs, as well as general Centre operations.


  • Post-secondary education in office or business administration, or an acceptable combination of education, training and work experience.
  • Minimum three years’ experience as an Administrative Assistant, Senior Executive Assistant or in other secretarial position.
  • Medical secretary experience considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of and advanced level of proficiency working with office management systems and procedures.
  • Familiarity with possible needs of individuals and families requiring palliative care services.
  • Ability to support the needs of an interdisciplinary team and work effectively with multiple partner organizations.
  • Demonstrates the ability to respond to the specific needs of vulnerable populations.
  • Basic bookkeeping and math skills.
  • Experience taking detailed meeting minutes.
  • Produce professional-quality reports, presentations and briefs.
  • Exemplary planning and time management skills.
  • Ability to stay calm in high-stress
  • Advanced level of proficiency working with Microsoft Office Suite and various software applications in particular Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize daily workload in a fast paced environment.
  • Excellent, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Discretion with personal and confidential information.
  • Awareness of and sensitivity to socio-economic and cultural issues.
  • High level of professionalism and diplomacy.
