The National Manager of Christian Partnerships and Church Engagement is responsible for the development and execution of the Church Engagement strategy which primarily supports World Vision Canada’s fundraising goals as well as overall brand and engagement strategy. The role is responsible for creating and managing the successful execution of a plan for engagement with churches across Canada which will be executed by the team including ensuring successful program delivery.

Job Description

  • Develop and grow Church Engagement into a leading fundraising channel for connecting Christian Canadians with transformational experiences that support World Vision Canada’s work abroad
  • Manage sales and moves management model to facilitate a two-way value proposition between Pastors and World Vision Canada that contributes to the discipleship needs of congregations and creates effective global partnerships that directly benefit the children communities World Vision serves
  • Collaborate on new partnerships with parachurch organizations, denominational and pastor networks with a goal of building mutually beneficial partnerships that builds and strengthens relationships with pastors in a way that demonstrates how World Vision contributes to the health of the local and global Church
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to team in how to manage successful relationships with pastors and support Church Representatives in problem solving
  • Create an overarching plan for church engagement that is aligned to the overall World Vision Canada marketing and fundraising strategy with church communities across Canada
  • Utilize a sales approach that will result in an increased number of engaged / highly engaged churches to ultimately lead to increased revenues and more Canadians engaged in transformational experiences through church partnerships
  • Using sales techniques and moves management strategies, coach Church Representatives to build strategic relationships for key congregations/pastors.
  • Hold Church Representatives accountable for implanting sales/moves management techniques and meeting activity goals. Provide coaching and training for Church Representatives to ensure they are equipped to meet goals.
  • Ensure that parachurch, denominational and pastoral networks and/or conferences are generating leads for the channel as well as ensuring a system is in place for referrals for Church Engagement
  • Working with Campaigns team, integrate national campaigns into Church Engagement program
  • Provide strategic direction for developing creative assets and deploying online/social content in
support of larger Church Engagement and World Vision Canada marketing/fundraising strategy
  • Manage strategic operational planning, budgetary control and staffing to optimize staff performance and results
  • Collaborate closely with other functional support areas such as the Events team in the successful execution of Church programs and ensuring successful program delivery
  • Instill common vision and sense of purpose with Church Representatives by example, demonstrating World Vision Canada core values and leading by example with a small group of key of churches
  • Work in close partnership with IT team to ensure CRM system sales/moves management cycle and needs of the team. Holds team accountable for tracking all activity in CRM system.
  • Qualifications

    • Bachelor of Arts required
    • Minimum of 5 (more preferred) years managing high performance teams; experience managing remote employees preferred
    • Minimum 5 (more preferred) years of ministry leadership experience through some combination of church ministry leadership experience as a pastor, church employee, parachurch leader, or highly engaged lay leader (ex: Church Board)
    • Experience building working relationships among senior church leaders from a variety of church traditions and denominations
    • Proven experience growing and strengthening team capabilities and capacity
    • Proven networking skills that yielded strong connections to the Canadian Christian community
    • Experience in fundraising or sales activity that yielded strong results
    • Deep appreciation and respect of the diversity in Christian traditions and churches and the proven ability to adapt approaches accordingly
    • Understanding and empathy towards the needs and issues of church leaders and ability to meet those needs
