Temporay assignment - up to 24 weeks
POSITION SUMMARY
The porter is a member of the Endoscopy Team who assists the nursing staff to transport patients, stock supplies and perform light housekeeping duties.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum Grade 12 education; able to read, speak and write English
- Able to communicate effectively and tactfully with patients and members of the health care team
- Good interpersonal skills; able to work in a team setting
- Demonstrated ability to organize time and prioritize needs to complete assigned tasks
- Demonstrated initiative to work independently. Able to follow directions correctly
- Good attendance and work performance record is essential
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Transport of patients including patient escort to main lobby to meet patient family/caregiver post procedure
- Changes and
cleans blood pressure cuff and oximeter probe between patients in recovery room baysAssists in moving stretchers within recovery room and clearing way for patients Stocks blanket warmer and ensures access to linen in recovery room Retrieving stretchers and wheelchairs for patient usage Cleans stretcher as required and replaces linen for next patient use Assists with the general clean up of the unit Assists the nurse with a restless patient as requested Answers the phone, using proper identification when the PCUC or a nurse is busy Performs tasks requested by the Nurse Manager or delegate Reports to the Resource Nurse prior to leaving the unit at the end of the tour Other duties as assigned

Rotaing shifts - days and afternoons
WAGE RATE
Hourly: $23.68....$24.70.....$25.74 (plus 14% in lieu)
