As part of the North American Product Development team this role will support packaging development for product innovation and input of packaging specifications into internal systems, plus benchtop development support for new products for launch into the Canadian marketplace.

What you’ll be working on:

  • Project Management – support packaging timelines for development of product innovation projects
  • Documentation - packaging spec development and management of data in internal systems
  • Packaging Support – run models for bag sizes and complete mock-ups as required, DRP development and shipping trials as required, multipack development and shipping trials as required
  • Operations Interface – work with operations team to ensure new
packaging or package size will work efficiently in manufacturing environment
  • Review of final packaging artwork to ensure accuracy. Provide feedback to packaging design vendors on changes required

  • Product Development:
    • prepare benchtop samples for consumer testing and marketing or senior product reviews
    • ship samples as needed – both domestically and internationally
    • gather samples from warehouse, production plant or from market for sample preparation or product reviews
    • Complete sensory flavour reviews on seasonings
    • Coordinate materials for plant trials – and support project lead on plant trials as required
    • Project Support – other specific R&D projects as assigned

    Who’s a good fit for the team:

    • completion of diploma/degree in Packaging Engineering technology or Food Science (or other related discipline)
    • High standard of accuracy and attention to detail
    • Excellent follow-up, and organization skills
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines
    • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written
    • Ability to work collaboratively within the R&D team, and cross functionally within PepsiCo Foods Canada, Frito Lay North America and with external vendors
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality of projects, data and other matters relating to PFC business
