Behind The Scenes - Working With CBC Nunavut

Your role:

We are seeking a video journalist in Iqaluit to gather content and tell original visual stories on CBC Igalaaq and Northbeat and our digital platforms.

You’ll be telling stories important to Inuit and Nunavummiut.

You are a motivated, dedicated visual storyteller with skills in video, video-editing, generating original and creative stories for our TV programs, online and social media and radio services.

You have excellent people skills and love working with a creative, imaginative, problem solving team of award winning journalists.

You’re not afraid to take creative risks, and you inspire others to do the same.

You have a strong desire to assist in the on-going promotion and use of Inuit language and culture and you know how to connect with our audiences across Nunavut and Nunavik. You understand the importance of reflecting our communities in our content.

You are comfortable working in a tight-deadline driven environment and ability to work flexible hours, including overtime.

Your skills:

Excellent skills in Inuktitut; good ability to work in English.

High school education or an equivalent combination of education, work and experience

Excellent skills in reporting and interviewing.

Ease with live reporting and appearing on camera.

Previous media experience, or a strong willingness to learn the skills required

Familiarity with issues facing Inuit Nunangat

Basic knowledge of, or willingness to learn about, CBC/Radio-Canada journalistic and programming policies.

Good team worker, who is a strong self-starter.

Experience working with digital and electronic equipment like editing software, smart phones, and cameras

Familiarity with social media

Valid driver’s licence, as well as a driving record that meets the criteria of CBC/Radio-Canada’s insurer.
