We are currently seeking a Youth Coordinator for the Henderson Sweetman Youth Centre in Shearwater, NS. The Youth Coordinator is responsible for the development, implementation, promotion, and assistance with the evaluation of our youth programs. The Youth Coordinator has oversight of the Henderson Sweetman Youth Centre. There may also be a requirement for youth programming to be provided at both our Shearwater and Halifax Sites.

Schedule for this position will be:

Sunday – Day Off

Monday – Day Off

Tuesday – 8:00 am – 4:00 pm

Wednesday – 12:30 – 8:30 pm

Thursday – 12:30 – 8:30 pm

Friday – 10:00 am – 6:00 pm

Saturday – 1:00 – 7:00 pm

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:

· Superior program development, facilitation, and program assessment skills;

· Superior mentoring and coaching skills;

· Superior customer service and communications skills;

· Superior ability to engage with youth 8 – 18 years of age;

· Superior ability to build relationships with parents and youth;

· Self-directed decision maker, ability to work autonomously to achieve results;

· Superior organizational and

· Superior conflict resolution and problem solving skills;

· Knowledge of the Canadian Armed Forces and the military lifestyle;

· Knowledge and use of technology and social media, to include Facebook and Instagram; and

· Knowledge and familiarity of community agencies and resources.

Education and Experience

· Post-secondary education required in Child & Youth Studies, Recreation, or related experience and education;

· 3-5 years’ experience working in youth focused program development, delivery and evaluation; and

· Proficiency in French is considered an asset.

Position: Permanent – Full-time (35 hours per week)

Start Date: 1 April, 2020

Salary: $43 000.00
