Job Description:

The Resource Development Project Coordinator (RDPC) will focus on developing current and culturally appropriate resources for communities located in the Northwest Territories. This position will also focus on de-centralizing the work of the Rainbow Coalition of Yellowknife to extend its support, both virtually and in-person, into the aforementioned communities. The RDPC will work out of the Rainbow Youth Centre in Yellowknife, NT.

Term: January 2021 to March 2022 (possibility of extension pending funding)

Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week)

Location: Rainbow Youth Centre in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories

Equipment: Employee will be provided a computer and an office space

Responsible to: Executive Director, Board of Directors Human Resources Committee

Duties and Responsibilities

· Upholds and maintains the sentiment of a youth organization, driven and governed by youth themselves;

· Assess and redesign existing resources;

· Develop new resources in consultation with community;

· Create templates for future creations of resources;

· Assist with the creation of an online store;

· Assist with the development of and content creation for a TikTok account;

· Engage with youth, families and allies both in-person and online;

· Travel to communities in the Northwest Territories to develop relationships to consult on resource development;

· Assist in development and delivery of programs in the Rainbow Youth Centre;

· Assist in the development and launch of the Rainbow Youth Mentorship Program; and

· Assist with the securing of additional funding for the organization.


The Rainbow Coalition of Yellowknife is an organization governed by mostly youth, and therefore are prioritizing hiring people who our organization recognizes as youth (people under 30). Preference will also be given to applicants who self-identify as Indigenous, Black and/or part of another racialized community, or living with a disability.

The successful candidate for the Resource Development Project Coordinator should


· Personal, lived understanding of 2SLGBTQ+ identity

· Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Certificate

· Valid Driver’s License and access to a vehicle

· Criminal Record Check + clear Vulnerable Sector Screening

· Knowledge of communities and cultures in the Northwest Territories

· Knowledge of another official language of the NWT is an asset

· Two to five years’ experience creating or developing resources preferred

· One year of project management experience preferred

· Experience working in youth-centred spaces or organizations

· Social media content development experience preferred

· Comfortable using social media and engaging with service users online

· Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite

· Grant and proposal writing experience considered an asset

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

· Ability to engage and interact with youth in a respectful way

· Knowledge of intersectionality and concepts of marginalization, oppression, power and privilege

This project has funds to be able to relocate the successful applicant to Yellowknife from another community in the Northwest Territories, Yukon or Nunavut (conditions apply).
