Going forward, Commercial Properties will continue to focus on developing properties in a prudent manner as well as making select acquisitions of existing buildings to grow our portfolio and add value for the shareholders.
We are recruiting for a Maintenance Manager for our head office located in Saint John. This position will be responsible for managing a facilities maintenance team, all maintenance activities for our managed properties in NB, NS, and PEI, to promote longevity of the property and its systems; responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
  • Monitoring and overseeing the Maintenance Dispatch System to ensure that tenant needs, and service targets are met successfully and provide guidance and coaching where necessary.
  • Training of maintenance staff on equipment operation, such as Sprinkler, HVAC, Plumbing, Controls.
  • Oversee maintenance projects and
  • Contribute and assist in Capital Projects as required.
  • Manage the schedule of maintenance staff including after-hours coverage (nights, vacations, and
holidays).
  • Participate in the annual maintenance and capital project budget planning.
  • Regular visits to all properties to ensure compliance with maintenance schedules.
  • Working closely with the team and tenants to accomplish and schedule maintenance activities.
  • Oversee the tendering process and contractor quotes, which in turn generate and drive the purchase order process for maintenance activities.
  • Management Performance management of direct reports.
  • Key role in Emergency Planning and execution if required.

  • Qualifications and Skills:
    • 5 to 7 years of facility operations and maintenance work experience; demonstrated ability to implement processes and practices relating to facility operations and maintenance.
    • Power Engineer Technologist/Technologist or equivalent.
    • Certified Engineering Technologist qualification would be an asset.
    • Training and understanding of building systems (HVAC, Controls, Fire Alarm and Sprinkler, Plumbing, Roof, electrical); experience with relevant IT technology
    • Knowledge and experience with fire, life, safety and building codes and standards.
    • Experience managing a team.
    • Strong client-service orientation along with a high sense of urgency; effective communication skills
    • Valid driver's license.
