partnerships. The YMCA of Fredericton is a 60,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art

building located in the heart of Fredericton and requires self-starting

individuals who want to be part of a dynamic team dedicated to building

healthy children, families and communities.

Position Overview
Reporting to the Aquatics Manager, lifeguards are responsible for ensuring a safe
aquatic environment and delivering quality, values based programming in the
Aquatic area. Instructors will be responsible for providing service excellence in all
Aquatic Programs and will ensure the safety and wellbeing of all participants in
those programs.

Duties 
Ensure all safety and aquatic procedures are adhered to, and in the event of

an emergency respond as trained by the Association. 
Ensure that staff, volunteers and members adhere to pool conduct guidelines

and maintain order in his/her designated area as a proactive approach to
ensuring safety and accident prevention. 

Maintain accurate, up to date lesson worksheets and attendance records for
lesson participants. 

Set up and take down program and other equipment as required; checking
that equipment is safe and in good repair (reporting any malfunctions and
removing damaged equipment from circulation). 

Model appropriate behaviours to fellow staff, volunteers and members in line
with our Mission, Vision and Values and SAM 2.0 standards 

Participate in all mandatory trainings and attends all staff meetings in
department and within the YMCA. 

Other duties as required. 
Understands and integrates the value of philanthropy in both specific position

and Association, and participate in the Annual Campaign and/or other
fundraising events.

Status: Part Time

Salary: $12.50/hour


Skills and Qualifications 
14 years of age or older 
Current Bronze Cross or National Lifeguard Pool Option 
Valid Standard First Aid & CPR-C with AED 
YMCA, Red Cross, or Lifesaving Swim Instructor certification is an asset 
Well-developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills 
Proven communication skills both verbal and written 
Employment is contingent on having a clean Criminal Record Check

with Vulnerable Sector Search.
