1st Cooks and 2nd Cooks

The Breakwater is looking for a 1st cook and line cooks to join our team P/T and F/T positions beginning between asap and end of March.
Candidates would be trained and able to work within our three major operations:
Our upstairs restaurant re-opened in June after extensive renovations and focuses on the seasons, the menu is comfortable and accessible & changes with our local produce cycles and includes many foraged aspects.
Our tasting room (downstairs) is a small detailed focused Mexican menu which combines authentic Mexican flavours with PNW ingredients
Our barge is a summer venue that features multiple food trucks and special events.
Executive chef David Furlonger is an avid localvore and forager; mushrooms, aquatic plants, greens and berries. Opportunities to go out foraging and exploring what Vancouver Island has to offer are open to everyone.
Tasting Room chef de cuisine Israel Alverez trained at Pujol (world ranked 12th currently) and ran the kitchen as CDC for many years before coming to Canada.
Excellent opportunities to learn and expand in a results driven kitchen.
This position is waged based, we are looking for the following qualities and requirements:
Foodsafe level 1 certification
Experience in high volume restaurants
High energy, awesome work ethic
Good physical health, ability to lift 50lbs
Interest in local food production
Interest in wild foods
Interest in learning
Willing to train the right individuals in most aspects. Professionalism, enthusiasm and positivity required.
