Job duties:

  • The EDA will continually monitor and actively patrol the Emergency Department waiting areas

and pro-actively engage patients awaiting treatment.

  • The EDA will enhance the user experience by making connections where possible, alleviating some stresses and anxiety through respectful interpersonal interactions.

  • Use supportive verbal techniques and staff resources to de-escalate potentially violent behaviour.

  • Develop relationships and liaisons with clinical and operational stakeholders.

  • Maintains basic data concerning client interactions including an hourly census of the general waiting area.

  • Establishes knowledge of the support options available and liaises with staff to ensure their applications are appropriate and not contrary to clinical needs.

  • Work in alignment with other Site Security staff to proactively reduce client interactions that may develop into violent or aggressive behaviour in the Emergency Department.


  • Qualifications:


    • A valid security guard license

    • Available to work flexible hours

    • Have a clear criminal background

    • Be eligible to work in Canada
