Your Opportunity:

Taber is a location in the Rural South Sector that services the Town of Taber and its outlying areas. The location is a busy and fast paced environment with a strong team of like-minded lab professionals. The location has three MLA's on staff which aids in the coverage of vacation and sick time. Working in Taber is extremely fulfilling and would offer excellent experience for new as well as seasoned laboratory assistants. Please note, this facility provides Long Term Care (LTC) or Designated Supportive Living (DSL) services and by Order of the Chief Medical Officer of Health, many AHS employees are restricted to work only at a single LTC/DSL site for the remainder of the pandemic. Speak to the hiring manager who will confirm if, as the successful candidate in this position, you will be restricted to work at only one LTC/DLS site in Alberta.

Description:

As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and

reporting results.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program.

Additional Required Qualifications:

The ability to work independently as well as within a team is imperative in this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

Rural experience an asset. Experience with outpatients, acute care as well as Emergency room patients an asset.
