Job Description:

    Records Technician - Various 1-year Temporary Positions
    Municipal Affairs (Quasi-judicial Boards)

    We are looking for positive, organized, highly motivated and energetic individuals who are looking to join our team!

    The Records Technician is responsible for screening and processing of applications under the Surface Rights Act, including reviewing applications to ensure the necessary criteria is provided to open a file, conducting database searches from Government agencies as well as entering information and data into an internal database for processing of the application. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing files for completeness, creating and sending general correspondence (mail and email), and filing records (paper and/or electronic). This position also catalogs and files active records (paper and electronic). The records technician assists with data entry, labeling, and boxing of paper records for inventory. This position is also required to support general reception duties.

    As the Record Technician, you possess:

  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong attention to detail, with a high degree of accuracy
  • Well-developed communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience with records management and retention, document control, archiving, disposition and retrieval
  • The ability to work with confidential and sensitive information

  • Qualifications

    High School Diploma combined with a minimum of 1-year related office administration experience is required. Equivalencies will be considered. Also required: Experience with using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint); strong communication skills and interpersonal skills; and fast and accurate keyboarding skills. The following would be considered an asset: Experience with Adobe Acrobat; post-secondary education in records and/or information management; experience and knowledge in records management practices, policies, and procedures; experience working with land titles legal documents and/or electronic data management, document management software and/or records management software.

    Receptionist - 6-month temporary position
    Labour and Immigration (Appeals Commission for Alberta Workers' Compensation)

    The Receptionist is the first point contact for the Appeals Commission, operating its multi-line switchboard and assisting walk-in clients. In this role, you will answer general telephone inquiries and direct calls to staff members, assist walk-in clients, receive and order couriers, and prepare mail-outs. You will also provide word processing, data entry, and other administrative support services, as required. The individual in this position will work with sensitive information and must maintain a high level of confidentiality. The ideal candidate would possess strong interpersonal, communication, and decision-making skills, and must be able to handle calls from individuals in crisis and work effectively in stressful situations.

    Qualifications

    High School Diploma combined with a minimum of 1-year related office administration experience is required. Equivalencies will be considered. Also required: Experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and data entry skills. The following would be considered an asset: experience working in a quasi-judicial or legal environment; experience with benefits administration; strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills; the ability to remain calm and professional during stressful interactions/situations.

Salary

$1,536.57 - $1,869.84 bi-weekly

Notes

    Hours of work: 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

    The Records Technician positions with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs quasi-judicial boards are 1 year temporary-salaried opportunities with the possibility of extension, located in Southwest Edmonton.
