Your Opportunity:

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of an audiologist and under the direction of managers in Postpartum. The Therapy Aide will be responsible for performing newborn hearing screens and other duties as directed in the Calgary Zone Postpartum Unit and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Ability to chart the patient care and prioritize referrals as well as handle screening equipment and related systems and supplies is necessary. Some booking and scheduling, administrative functions and the maintenance of a clean and safe work environment may be required. The successful candidate will prioritize and organize the work schedule in order to manage patient caseload responsibilities.

Description:

As a Therapy Aide, you will be working both independently and as part of the interdisciplinary team where you will contribute to the effective and efficient delivery of rehabilitation services. Your role may include administrative duties such as ordering supplies, booking clients, tracking attendances, equipment inventory and preparing/cleaning the treatment area. Under the direction of a supervising recreation therapist, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, audiologist, or speech language pathologist, you will prepare and/or apply routine interventions, promote patient (client, resident) healthy living, self-care independence and motivate clients to actively participate in assigned therapy

protocols or programs. You may assist with client lifts and transfers, positioning, and basic activities of daily living (ADL) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADL) within the context of the therapy program.

Preferred Qualifications:

Post-secondary certificate or diploma from a recognized Therapy Aid program is preferred. At least one year of experience in a healthcare setting is preferred. Previous experience with handling newborns an asset. Previous experience with newborn hearing screening an asset. Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated proficient computer skills. Ability to work well independently and within a variety of interdisciplinary team environments.
